Ford to unveil vehicles to replace cops’ Crown Vics By Greg Turner | Thursday, October 14, 2010 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Automotive Ford Motor Co. is in hot pursuit of the police. The Detroit automaker will let cops of all stripes kick the tires of its 2012 Police Interceptor sedan and sister SUV today at a Marlboro emergency-vehicle dealer. Ford execs will tout the replacement for the trusty, top-selling Crown Victoria - a model rolling into retirement next year - and try to steer law-enforcement buyers away from competing cars coming down the pike. The Crown Vic has long dominated the police-car market, but Ford’s fresh offering will face competition from the Dodge Charger Pursuit and Chevrolet Caprice PPV. “We’re not abandoning one vehicle in favor of another one,” said Ford brand manager Lisa Teed. “It’s just time to give (police) a much more progressive platform and vehicle to get the job done.” MHQ, the region’s largest police-car outfitter, held the first private showing of the Police Interceptor sedan in April. It expects at least 700 to attend today’s unveiling of the utility version. Ford to unveil vehicles to replace cops’ Crown Vics - BostonHerald.com
They look pretty slick and I heard that the interior has the same square footage as the crown vic, due to the higher ceilings. The center console seems a little wider than the vic's but all in all it seems like a good first attempt at replacing the Vic. Although the motor is a 6 cylinder its suppose to have more power than the v8 used now which is pretty incredible.
We're probably gonna get Crown Vics till 2011 because they are cheaper and all the equipment from our 06 and 07s will fit in there ,further reducing prices. Ford should have put the 24V 4.6 V8 300HP that comes in the Explorer in them and changed the fascia a bit, everyone would have been happy. Hate the new Interceptor ,Chargers suck with all the front end problems, maybe the new Chevys will be better.
I just had to rush by the sig when I realized what it was LOL!! I had one of my kids looking over my shoulder HAHAHAHA!!
