JOB SUMMARY: FIDELITY, BRAVERY, INTEGRITY As a threat-based and intelligence-driven national security organization, the FBI's mission is to protect and defend the United States against terrorists and foreign intelligence threats, to uphold and enforce the criminal laws of the United States, and to render assistance to federal, state, municipal, and international law enforcement and intelligence partners. The strength of the FBI is its people - Agents from different backgrounds, each possessing a myriad of skills, working together to ensure the safety of our communities and the nation. TODAY'S FBI. IT'S FOR YOU. The FBI seeks responsible, motivated, self-starters to work in a high pressure and demanding team environment. Special Agent applicants must be able to work independently, adapt to changing and sometimes dangerous situations and make logical, well-reasoned decisions based on all available facts. Applicants should have superior interpersonal abilities and be able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, in an organized and articulate manner. Special Agents are responsible for enforcing over 300 federal statutes and conducting sensitive national security investigations. As a Special Agent, you may be asked to use your language skills to interview a witness who speaks only a foreign language, your IT skills to locate evidence concealed deep within a computer network, or your CPA skills to uncover hidden assets. Whether it is identifying and recruiting human sources whose information may ultimately avert a terrorist act or gathering intelligence on a foreign enemy determined to do us harm, the FBI provides the opportunity for leaders in every community to give back. This opportunity should not be taken lightly. The FBI Special Agent position requires significant commitment and dedication from you and your family. SECURITY CLEARANCE This position requires a Top Secret Security Clearance. Selectees must undergo and successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation as a condition of placement/retention in the position. Prior to the initiation of a background investigation, applicants will be required to pass a polygraph examination. The background investigation will include a check of your credit history and criminal record, as well as interviews with prior employers, references, co-workers, personal associates, family members, and friends. An applicant may be disqualified from selection or removed from employment as a Special Agent based on information obtained during this background investigation. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and consent to a complete background investigation, urinalysis, and polygraph. Automatic Disqualifiers: Applicants with a felony conviction, use of illegal drugs in violation of the FBI Employment Drug Policy, in default of a student loan insured by the U.S. Government that fail an FBI-administered urinalysis drug test, fail to register with the Selective Service System (males only). Please note that if you are disqualified by any of the above tests, you are not eligible for employment with the FBI. AGE RESTRICTIONS United States Department of Justice (DOJ) policy requires that Special Agent applicants complete 20 years of service prior to mandatory retirement at age 57. Therefore, applicants must be between the ages of 23 and 36, and not yet reached their 37th birthday upon appointment. [Exception: Individuals currently employed in 1811 series federal law enforcement positions that also have a mandatory retirement age of 57.] Age waivers may be granted to preference eligible veterans beyond the age of 37. Visit OPM's Vet Guide or the Department of Labor for questions on preference eligibility. Applicants should consider that the average processing time to complete all stages of the Special Agent Selection System (SASS) may take approximately one (1) year. The FBI may disqualify applicants at anytime during the process, should it be determined that they will reach age 37 before appointment to New Agents Training (NAT). KEY REQUIREMENTS Must be at least 23 and not have reached your 37th birthday on appointment Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance Must possess a valid driver's license Must meet physical requirements Must pass all phases of the Special Agent Application process Must commit to serving as a Special Agent for a minimum of three years
I was in the local field office the other day on an unrelated matter. Screening as already begun and those who are greenlighted (sp?) for phase II should hear back in the next few weeks. Expect to hear back before December 1st
You too can attain a superiority complex, a massive ego, and then proceed to prosecute local and state cops for specious "civil rights violations" and put them in federal prison for decades for split-second decisions that carefully selected juries have months to dissect and analyze.
Thought about applying but I defaulted on my student loans I took out to get my now unfunded Quinn Bill benefits...
The Bureau is probably one fed job I am absolutely not interested in even applying for, and yes - I am a beggar. I have ZERO desire to ever have to investigate other cops, and that's their pride and joy. I understand someone has to do it, and it's a necessary job to weed out and deal with the bad apples that disgrace the badge. That said, I want no part in ruining good cops' lives by subjecting them to an investigation even if most of them are cleared.
We had a local 1811 get in a very minor dinger with their G-Ride on the big road. We swapped papers for both drivers and thought the case was closed, right? Negative. The other driver called us fahhh-reaking out when the black Suburbans showed up at their residence. (The agents insisted on doing their own *crash* invest...because they're the F-B-I, in the name of making mountains out of molehills). Of course I played with the driver and asked, "What did you do to cause the federales to come to your house?" Hahahahah But they bring all that funding and fancy-schmancy gear to the task force, so they're top shelf in my book!
I would never want to work for them; more people defect from there and come to my agency, on all levels, unlike anything else I have seen in my life. The former Eye employees never have positive things to say.
