I was wondering if anyone has experience with the Danner Duty boots and which ones would be the best for 10 hour traffic details on foot? I currently use the Rocky duty boots and their killer on my feet after 5 hours, not that it matters, but I'm 6' 1" and 240 pounds maybe losing weight might help, but that's not what I want to hear.

Most comfortable and durable duty boots I've ever owned are Danner Acadias. Remove the factory footbed and replace it with a Shock Doctor one and you are good to go. Worked many, many details wearing that setup and managed to evade foot pain.

Though I have never tried spending time on my feet wearing some of the "new school" of duty boots like USMCMP5811 pointed out. My detail days are long over. I do have a pair of Rocky S3Vs for my current job, which are sneakerlike in fit and are incredibly comfortable. They look similar to those Converse ones.

Also consider Oakley if you want a more sneaker-style boot. The usstandardissue.com website offers a huge discount program if you fax them your ID. I can get prices from there if you want for comparison purposes.

Does Danner make boots w/ a toe cap? I don't see any.

I'm still wearing my academy Corcorans (which are like slippers) but are a 1/2 size too big.

I've heard such great things about Danner that I was hoping to try them as my new pair.

I wear the Danner 8" Striker II GTX (Lace-to-toe) boots on duty everyday and on details. Most comfortable and supportive boots I've ever worn.

I own alot of Danner's. The Acadia, both with the Thinsulate for winter, and without. I also own the Danner GTX, although I'm getting lazy and got the side zipper. I also have a pair of Danner Marine hot climate boots for training. Danner's are awesome, although look at where they are made. Some are still made in the USA, most are made in China nowadays.

I am getting lazy, because after so many years of lacing my fuckin boots I switched last year to 5.11 ATAC's. Side zipper, like wearing sneakers. Although these too are made in China, I thought I'd give them a try. So far so good.

I've pulled many, many details in my time, and there is absolutely nothing that is going to stop your feet from hurting, especially 10 hour details. You might be able to mitigate the pain, but your dogs will still be barking. Try getting those orthotic insoles from Dr. Scholl's. The one where you have to stand in your stocking feet on a computer board and they analyze your feet and give you a recommendation. The orthotics are pricey at about $60, and I personally haven't tried them, but that might be an option.
