Are you shitting me? We haven't seen a raise in a couple of years and these political pom-poms get 4.5% in one?
MTC - technically it breaks down to 6 % over two years. which is just the standard 3 % a year. Its just coming in 1.5% increments every 6 mos. A maxed out ACo will now be at 43,000 and change, while the CO's (white shirts) will be maxing out at just shy of 74,000. Not bad coin. In all honesty, the blue shirt positions are no longer the "cost effective measure" of not putting a white shirt at the door. I can see them merging the two positions, and adding more pay steps to the beginning of the white shirt job in the future.
ACO's get policy/procedure , pat/frisk training, identifying concealed weapons, sexual harassment training, recOgnizing other contraband items, report writing, etc CO's get policy/procedure, detention area training, court room procedure, defensive tactics, handcuffing and leg irion training, sexual harassment, report writing, Suicide prevention, CPR first aide, AED , recognizing court paperwork ( warrants, mits, habes, sections) etc etc.....
OK, but WE haven't seen a raise in I can't tell ya how long... and they get "6%' over 2 years. Well that's 6% more over 2 years than we get!
I feel your pain....about 8 months ago, we were half way through our 5th year without a contract/raise. It sucks, I feel your pain.
Okay, sooo I was called and told that training begins 6/11 be there and get uni's 2.5 hours away ! I wasn't given any other info as to salary, court assignment and hours. I asked, but they weren't divulging any info until you arrive at the academy. I was told that bidding was still taking place... hmmm I was curious in regards to the salary differentials (i.e., salary increases) upon exceeding the minimum education level required for this position ... Any insight ? Just saying
All I got out of that was that I'm a whiner and too lazy to look up the salary steps by either calling HR or going to the Nage (union) website. You will get your court assignment towards the end of training. For me it was the end of the last day . I was issued my badge and told to report to xyz Court. You seemed optimistic before. What happen? Also Bens Uniform in Amesbury had the contract for the initial uniform issue.... After that you can go to wherever is convenient for you.
Here ya go - gift wrapped. http://www.nage.org/state/TrialCourt/pdf/TrialCourtSalarySchedule.pdf Bear in mind that this does not include the 6% over the next 2 years. You advanve to ACO II after 2 years of service
Foxy85 your a live one...Haha.. I did call H.R and that is what they told me... they weren't very forthcoming like you on the other hand ..I enjoy your sence of humor... luv it !!! Thanxs
Also, court assignments after the training? What if it not one you chose? This does play a big part of accepting the position....don't ya think?
I got my letter in the mail today. I guess I'm staying at the academy for the week. Seems like it basic training all over again....lol...talking about lights out at 10:00...wth...the NBA finals will be on...lol
Also I was told that I didn't have to wait for 2yrs if I wanted to become a CO. So if it comes open during my probation period, could I apply for it?
Probation officers and white-shirt court officers do VERY well. How come they're never described as "pigs feeding at the public trough" like police officers?
You can APPLY to whatever you want. If you want to be a clerk-magistrate, apply for it. I was simply stating that you are garuanteed an interview after 2 years of service. They could hire white shirts the day after you start, nothing stopping you from applying....
Well Foxy85, since all the current ACO's that didn't want to step up to CO's and they still have slots, when do you think they might post the promotions to CO's. Thank u n advance!!!
