Boston Bruins win Stanley Cup, beat Vancouver 4-0

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - The Boston Bruins [team stats] had waited 39 long years for another drink from the Stanley Cup, and Tim Thomas [stats] was awfully thirsty.
When the Bruins and their brilliant goalie barged into a hostile Canadian rink surrounded by another 100,000 screaming fans outside for Game 7, they emerged with the championship they wanted.
Thomas made 37 saves in the second shutout of his landmark finals performance, Patrice Bergeron and rookie Brad Marchand scored two goals apiece, and the Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-0 Wednesday night for their first championship since 1972.

HORTON POURED GARDEN ICE ON ROGERS ARENA

Talking to WHDH-TV following the Bruins' 4-0 Game 7 win, clinching the Stanley Cup championship for the B's, injured forward Nathan Horton admitted to pouring water that was TD Garden ice onto the Rogers Arena ice surface prior to the season's final game.

"We wanted to put our ice on their ice and make it our ice," Horton told Channel 7. "I was trying to be sneaky."

Despite being out of the past three games with a concussion, Horton joined his teammates on the ice following the victory, taking his turn to hoist the Stanley Cup.

"It's hard to explain how happy I am and be part of the Boston Bruins," he said.

Watched my first game in October 1974.
Been waiting for this night ever since.
    What a feeling.

There were a few - a FEW Vancouver players that were applauding the B's while on the ice.

Vancouver fans are just as punk-ass wussies as most of the players.

(though - there's some nitwit behavior going on around the Gah-den)

Strange though - SOMEBODY thought there'd be a crowd at Fenway, to celebrate a hockey win!

Congrats to the Bs! It's great to see the last of the four major Boston sports teams bring a championship to the homeland.

Can you imagine being Tyler Seguin - drafted at 18, playing for the Stanley Cup at 19, his very first year in the NHL - and he's not only on the winning team, but was a contributing factor.

All at 19yrs old. Not even old enough to drink the celebratory champagne!

He drinks all he wants in Boston too...i'd love to see an establishment deny him a drink. Won't happen though

The legal drinking age in Canada is 18 years old.

    Drink up, Tyler.

I was 6 years old the last time Lord Stanley's Cup came to Boston.....welcome back.

I was 10. Plus, I still have the original classic photo from the Herald front page of Bobby Orr flying through the air after scoring the game winning goal in the 1970 Series.

Ah, those were the days, especially when we could pronounce all of the players names! (Orr, Cashman, Sanderson, Doak, Cheevers, Johnston, Esposito, Hodge, Smith, Marcotte, Stanfield, Bucyk, etc, for all you young folks.)

Tim Thomas, what a class act! It was interesting when he met up with "Lebrongo". Tim took the high road and told Luongo he was a "great" goalie. Well, we know that isn't true, but a classy move on Tim's part.........

I can honestly say this is the only team in my life that matters to me. I try to know the history of every player, I even have a book from the 09-10 season with them saying what they'd do if they weren't hockey players (Marchand would want to be a police officer) and other things of that nature.

My first game was when I was in 2nd grade and I've been following ever since watching every single game I can, which is usually around 60-70 a season.

I'm so happy today! I'm waking up at 8am sharp Saturday and getting to North Station. Couldn't be more excited!!!!

Last of four? LA, have you forgotten about the Revs? They have a dedicated fan base of 267 fans. Can't wait until they bring home the...the...the, what the hell do they bring home anyway?

My bad.. shame on me for forgetting "the other guys."

After living in southern California for the last 22 + years, I've had my fill of soccer, which is one of the very few sports I've never liked. Many of our visitors from the south play soccer in vacant fields and parking lots. One thing I've never seen out here is kids playing street hockey like I and all my buddies use to do when we were growing up. I miss that.

VERY cool of the Red Sox, and the League, and whoever they're playing - to move the start time of the game for the "rally".
