The agent fired after being driven several hundred yards on the hood, Chula Vista police Capt. Gary Wedge told The Associated Press. The woman was later identified in a police statement as Valeria Alvarado. The shooting occurred about five miles north of the Mexican border as plainclothes agents were looking to serve a felony warrant in the area to someone other than Alvarado, Border Patrol Deputy Chief Rodney Scott told U-T San Diego. W. T. F??? First of all, headline SHOULD read "Border Patrol Agent is safe after driver tries to run him over". Second, her husband says "where is the proof my wife threatened a trained officer?" Ummmm... how about the fact that he was ON THE HOOD OF HER CAR after she tried to hit him with it?! Unless it comes to light that he JUMPED on the car and shot an innocent woman 5 times for no reason, then I don't see a problem here... I don't care how many kids she had. Sounds like a good shoot to me, of course I will have to wait for the use of force experts on NES to concur.
The fact is (which much of Joe Public doesn't understand) that she could've been a mother of 10 adopted special needs children, on her way to rescue abandoned puppies, and deliver food and blankets to homeless vets... If you try to hit an officer with your car, you deserve what you get. Sent from my wicked smaht DROID RAZR
Whenever I'm fighting with someone and the peanut gallery yells some version of "Don't hurt him/her", I want to disengage, offer my handcuffs to the crowd, and invite them to do it any better.
At the Hospital we had a few of those Drs that were anti LE ,Security and anything to right of center. One night a Section 12 was pacing back and forth getting ready to go off and we had atleast 6 of us at the door waiting to restrain him and the Dr pushes his way through us like he was in charge and says " You guys always escalate these people let me handle this get away" He walked up to the guy and like the guy was 6 yrs old he leans down and started to say " sir" and the guy punched him in the face almost knocking him out. I wish I had that on tape it sums up those type of people in a nutshell. Needless to say the Doc NEVER so much as said a peep after that, infact he had any Sec12 snowed with attivan or haldol the minute they came in the door.
I had a Dr. like that standing next to me at a S.12 telling me that I was 'intimidating'. That was a fraction of a second before the nice fella did a running head butt to the door that I was holding shut with my foot. I asked the Dr. if it was ok for me to continue intimidating the upstanding citizen.... but he was halfway down the hall.
We have a couple of nurses around here who feel the need to talk down to self check-in EDPs. surprise, surprise those same nurses call us when the person goes absolutely apeshit.
The ER physicians and nurses at QMC deal with so many drunks and junkies that anyone with that kind of attitude changes their tune really quickly.
Family of mom shot by US Border Patrol files wrongful death claim Published October 13, 2012 Associated Press CHULA VISTA, California – The family of a 32-year-old mother of five shot and killed by a U.S. Border Patrol agent as he rode on her car's hood in suburban San Diego has filed a wrongful death claim against the agency, saying the agent had a long history of misconduct in a previous law enforcement job and should not have been on the street. Attorney Eugene Iredale filed the claim Friday with the Border Patrol on behalf of Valeria "Munique" Tachiquin Alvarado and provided a copy to The Associated Press. The documents, a required precursor for a lawsuit, say the agent, 34-year-old Justin Tackett, was suspended four times for misconduct including crashing a patrol car and violating suspects' rights in the nearly four years that he worked as an Imperial County sheriff's deputy. Tackett had been given a notice that he'd be fired just before he quit the job in 2003, the documents say. Working for the Border Patrol must feel like being one of the 300 left alone to defend the borders of your Country left abandoned, to die by a never ending sea of enemies. May God Bless them all.
In other words the defense attorney agrees the shoot was completely justified, however we could use a few bucks .
