Im on the hunt for the red dot for yet another AR build. I'm curious as to what red dots (eotech, aimpoint, trijicon, etc) you are using on your AR/M4s these days. I spent some time finger fuckin an Aimpoint Patrol Rifle Optics that I liked.... But what do you got?
I have both an Eotechy 556 and an Aimpoint Micro T1 (4 MOA) on a LaRue mount. If you like the Aimpoint Micro, I would look into the 2 MOA version. If you end up wanting to get an Aimpoint, send me a PM and I'll get you the info for an authorized dealer that sells to LE on the cheap.
Depends...have you volunteered for any PDs or been to the academy or have any involvement at all? PM me if you want. Sent from my POS using Tapatalk 2
T-1 and I love it! never shut the thing off andI know guys that have had then for years....battery life is rediculous
I currently use the T-1 in a Larue mount on one rifle, Aimpoint PRO on another and Schmidt and Bender 1-4X Short Dot on my third. While my Schimdt is an awesome piece of glass, nothing beats an Aimpoint for close range shooting. Fast, durable, sick battery life. Like others, I have never turned mine off for over 3 years. My experience with EOTech has been less satisfactory; my 552 had a great reticle, but less than stellar battery life, and frequently required replacement. My XPS was lighter, but while I had no issues with it (other than sub-standard battery life), one of my co-workers recently had to send his back to the factory for burning out batteries in a matter of days. ACOG's are nice, good field of view and runs on tritium and fiber optics, so it requires no batteries. They are however, less than ideal for close-range (less than 25 yard) shooting and it has an absurdly short eye relief. Trijicon accupoints are also great, and little better for eye relief and its variable power makes them better for close distances. For close to medium distance shooting (0-200 yards), nothing beats an Aimpoint (get the 2 MOA dot, though). If you want to "stretch the legs" of your AR and shoot intermediate to long ranges (200-500 yards) the 1-4x or 1-6x type scopes are great.
Aimpoint actually recommends never shutting the PRO off as with it's obnoxious battery life, leaving it on gives you that extra second in the fight you'd miss turning it on.
For the economical person... The Burris 332. A constant 3x magnification and it's holding zero well so far. Around $300. Looks pretty sharp too.
I've used them all playing Call Of Duty-Modern Warfare 3, and have to say they all have their advantages based on the terrain map you're using Oops sorry I thought I was on Game Stop That being said I picked up a used Tru-Glo red dot for my [AK-]"7.62 Hunting Rifle" from an auction site, thing works great and even in bright sunshine you can still see the dot. Zeroed in at the range and haven't touched it since... HINT: on the side where the sight attaches to the rail, I used a little red nail polish so if you have to remove the sight and go "iron" you can put it back without the pain of re-zero. Wouldn't use it at a competition this way but shooting at something more substantial, it ain't off by enough to hurt you
Not really rellated but I just got a deal on one of these today: http://www.amazon.com/4-16X50-Evolution-Series-Scope-Riflescope/dp/B008FL7D60 Paid 150 bucks on DVOR
Thank GOD. "Where am I aiming? Is this like, the little squiggly line in your eye? Ya know, if you look at it, it runs away?" I hope you treat that current optic like the fax machine from Office Space.
hahahah Fucker. We can shoot at the optics instead of vegetables next time. Strap it to a post down range and do counter-sniper shots.
I''m running an Aimpoint PRO and love it. Quick target acquisition and I think the battery life is three years with it on 24/7. I'm using it on a SIG 556 Patrol rifle, not an AR/M4...it more closely mirrors the bolt of an AK47
You must You must be from out of state, wrist rockets are illegal in MASS. Do you use ball bearings, pellets or marbles like me?
