I couldn't post on the 80th RTT thread, so I will mention it here (may have already been mentioned and if so I apologize). I was listening to JEFF KATZ on AM1200 recently. He mentioned that Governor Patrick alloted enough money for the academy training, but didn't budget money to retain the new Troopers. He seemed to be hinting at layoffs down the road. Anyone know more on this? I hope it's not true, but with a Governor that hates Cops, anything is possible.......
Makes zero sense. Spend all that money on a class only to lay them off due to short sightedness regarding budgetary calculation mistakes? No effin' way. Our tax revenues have increased substantially, staffing is still WAY down, and they need the bodies with the impending casinos... This guy sounds like he's talking out his ass. Probably why he's on AM radio...
MSPFIELD I received a 98 and did a physical and 2 psychs. I passed everything. As far as the HR department tells me, iam still active pending another academy. What exactlyy does that mean?
NOTHING would surprise me with that idiot in the corner office. Shock me, maybe, but not surprise me.
I have heard soooo many rumors about 81st RTT. 1. Oct 2012, 2. July 2012 3. August 2012 and 4. April 2013. I have heard150 - 250 recruits and all the 97's will get a call and the left over 98's. WHATS THE TRUTH!!! Oh...ya...I forgot the other rumor....there will be no more classes off this test.
Bud, as eager as I am for that same information, chances are it's not publicly available even if it has been decided, nor is another class even paid for yet. We all hear rumors, but the only real productive thing you can do is email the state reps, stay in shape, keep your head down, and lastly... Hurry up and wait. Or standby to standby... Depends on the day.
If you think you're in the running... then get 'cho 'ass running!! keep it running... The only true information is what's going to land in your mailbox.
http://www.mass.gov/bb/h1/fy13h1/brec_13/hsummary.htm Follow line item 8100-0515 throughout the process until the end of June for the final budget. Keep calling your state reps about funding the class.
Look back a few posts, Cowboy posted links on where you can send emails to some of the reps about funding. Have everyone in your family and friends do it if you really want another class. Then below Cowboy's post, MSPField gave some great points to put in your letters and emails.
I was told by a State Rep. "I shouldn't hold my breath". That does not sound very promising. He stated the last class cost too much money and it was very difficult to obtain the money. I brought to his attention the casinos and the fact that there are a large amount of members of the State Police are eligible for retirement. He then stated "We will have to wait and see". Not sure if other State Rep. feel the same way.
Some people like to set low expectations, then when they "exceed" them they can boast. Politicians are exceedingly good at this!
The only thing the 80th needs to worry about is proving themselves on break-in and beyond. There will be no layoffs of the 80th. 81st hopefuls, get your family and friends to ask their reps and senators to support the class, support over the next few months as they hash out the budget is CRITICAL.
