Dropped my cousin off this morning for Day 1. Hope he makes it through week 1. Oh. You guys didn't get the memo about the start date being pushed forward ?
Candidate numbers are posted for the PT test. Looks like there are a whole lot of people fighting for the 81st. I'm going to go out on a limb and say background investigators are going to dig extra deep this time around.
1152 hopefuls scheduled for the 1.5mi run. And they get a second bite at the apple if they blow it the first time. WOW.
Don't get too discouraged yet, last time they sent out letters to 1200 people to have a little over 400 responses before PT. This time it seems they sent letters out to everyone except those who already got on and just listed everyone for the PT. Last time there was a 30% no show rate for the physical even after people sent the green form back. This would leave me to believe that the no show rate for physicals is going to be much higher.
Are those 98/99/100/101/102 people that were not processed for the 80th for whatever reason? There are a lot of them.
If I were in charge of such things, veterans would get their back seniority if they were deployed during the initial hiring process.
Delta, I worked with a few guys in the DOC that were deployed and got their seniority backdated when they were promoted. It should be some sort of blanket policy but as we all know many depts are kinda fucked up!! Stay safe
That's awesome, but I was referring to people who get called for an academy, but can't report due to a deployment. IMO, if those people subsequently make it through another academy, their seniority should be backdated to the previous academy. You shouldn't be punished for military service. In related news, there were some people in my NG unit who worked for AT&T (yeah, I just dated myself), and they received full salary & benefits while we were deployed, in addition to their military pay. When it came time for people to volunteer to stay behind for an extra month to make sure our vehicles and CONEX containers were shipped, guess who volunteered?
That is solid. I know of a PD that did that for a guy. Smaller place. Chief said he was "confused" between the CBA and state law regarding paying activated reservists who were deployed the difference between military and PD pay, or nothing, or everything, so he got everything. He didn't look into it very hard. Solid move for a solid guy by a solid chief.
My PD makes up the difference between base pay and military pay, but they were cute about it when they made that decision years ago.....their definition of base pay doesn't include Quinn Bill, holiday pay, longevity, etc., so there really isn't anything to make up. They do continue health insurance though, which is HUGE. The city covers their portion, and the union covers the member's portion...otherwise, there would be wives having to go to Hanscom Air Force base if their kids got sick, since that's the location of the closest military pediatrician.
Do you guys think they will get to 97s when there are a bunch of people still left over from the original 80th process, and now with the 98+ people on the new list? Seems like a lot of people for 125 slots.
Diddy, I'm going to go out on a limb and say some 97s will be processed since they're on the list for the PT. Man I should put in for one of the next detective spots that opens up.
Hmm, mine made up the difference as well and did not bother looking at BAQ since they did not consider that pay. They also made sure my wife was covered health insurance wise. It's been several years but I have never forgotten that. This is why when newer guys come on and have it better than I did bitch and complain about how much the place sucks, I can only shake my head. I've seen several who went to "better" agencies and regret that decision.
But where else are potential trainees going to post the latest rumors they heard from a friends uncle's brother.
