QUINCY, Mass. - A Quincy woman doubts she's going to have a good night's sleep anytime soon after she locked eyes with an intruder in her bedroom.

The 25-year-old woman said she first heard strange sounds in her apartment on Hunt Street on Friday morning.

She told Boston 25 News she didn't get out of bed because she initially thought it was her roommate.

"I heard a little noise like somebody walking around. I totally think that it's my roommate," she said.

The young woman, who requested that her name not be published, said she immediately became concerned when her doorknob started wiggling.

Her bedroom door was locked, but the person on the other side of the door was persistent.

"I think it's something weird because my roommate would never, never try to unlock my door," the woman, who asked not to be identified, said.

The frightening reality that then revealed itself in her bedroom.

"Suddenly he just kicked the door or the door just opened and then I saw his face and he saw me and he said 'oops,'" she said.

Right there, staring down at her bed was a man she's never seen before. He was reportedly holding a screwdriver.

The man, later identified by police as 55-year-old Stephen Jones of Roxbury, quickly bolted from the apartment.

"My roommate came out of his room, and he said, are you okay," she recalled.

Her roommate grabbed a steak knife and chased after the intruder. The suspect managed to slip away.

A Quincy police officer was working a construction detail nearby and was approached by the woman's frantic roommate.

According to court documents, the officer caught up with Jones on the train platform at the North Quincy T Stop.

Jones reportedly ran away and then tried to hide out in a shipping container at a nearby construction site.

However, the officer said he saw Jones enter the container and handcuffed him shortly thereafter.

The woman who accused him of putting her through "a real life nightmare" positively identified him.

She said she's worried he could come back to her home.

"I don't want to be home alone," the woman said. "I keep thinking what if he didn't run away or if he came to me or do something to me."

After the harrowing ordeal, the woman said she will be sleeping with a pair scissors under her bed.

Police said they don't know why Jones picked the woman's apartment, but they did find a screw driver in his backpack, which they believe he used to break in.

Jones pleaded not guilty to charges of daytime breaking and entering, possessing burglary tools and defacing property Monday in Quincy District Court. He's being held on $7,500 bail and is due back in court on June 23.

Mr. Jones apparently is NOT a nice man and thankfully, the unidentified woman, who was shown from behind and her street was named, has announced to the world that she will now have scissors under her bed. She wasn't NAMED? Big deal, I'm sure many will know exactly who she is and will now know where her defensive weapon is. NICE WORK CH. 25!
