No we do not have a patrol division. We do work quite a bit of details in our jurisdiction, and do have a task force unit which works outside. Nothing specifically for patrol however.

i know on the left coast sheriffs dept's are the primary law enforcement in SOME communities..........

hope they know that the cops dont carry GUNS! although they were told that the job was a police officers position........police carry guns.

Our main duty is corrections. I spend most of my 40 hour week working the jail. If you are MCJTC Reserve certified, you can do details and a few other things, but not much else. Not a job to get into unless you want to work corrections or you are looking for a stepping stone. I think when I started, I got around 34K base, but there are a ton of perks. With details you can pull in a good chunk of change, especially once you put some time in.
