BOSTON -- A Lexington, Mass., father arrested after a dispute over teaching same-sex marriage in the classroom will not go on trial, according to his lawyer.
David Parker was stunned last April when his son came home from kindergarten with a book that included a family with same-sex parents.
The 42-year-old was later arrested and charged with trespassing after refusing to leave the school, which he went to wanting assurances that he would be notified in advance about any curriculum involving homosexuality.
His actions have sparked a firestorm in the town.
Supporters have rallied on Parker's behalf, but many have also sided with the school.
Parker's trial was set to begin Thursday, but his lawyer told the Boston Globe that both sides have reached an agreement.
The lawyer also said the agreement will not end Parker's stand-off with Lexington schools.
