Swansea Police Seeking Reserve Officers

Town of Swansea, population 15,901, is seeking candidates for the position of Reserve Police Officer. Applicants must be 18 years of age, minimum of 60 college credits required and/or two (2) years active military service and/or four (4) years National Guard Reserve service. Must be high school graduate or G.E.D./Reserve Officer position. A valid driver’s license is required. Applications are available at the Swansea Police Dept. Must be returned to the Swansea Police Dept. 111 Gardner’s Neck Rd., Swansea, MA02777 no later than Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. AA/EOE

Swansea only hires from their Reserves. They work regular patrol shifts (paid) and details.

You will have to go through the R/I academy, mental /physical exam, and equip yourself including a SW99 .40 at your own expense.

Very good dept to work for since the "changing of the guards" (new chief) a few years ago

I started as a reserve in Swansea. Then a full time dispatcher. Then a full time police officer. Now in a big city nearby. Great place to start and learn. Smart bunch of officers there. Great, smart, chief. Everyone has to start somewhere. Put the time in and you will be rewarded.
