I got a letter from MSP today saying they will be considering some 95's (I'm a 95er) for the 79th R.T.T. Anyone else have this happy mail waiting for them?

95 Here! I've been waiting for this letter for 3 years. Good Luck Cowboy and all you 95's.

Posted by: Opie

I just Received my letter today! [-o<

Posted by: 40th MPOC#309

Our midshift dispatcher is a 95'er! Good luck to all you guys/gals!

Posted by: KozmoKramer

Good Luck Boys and Girls...

Posted by: BigDog42

I am a 95er and no letter sent here what else did the letter say

Posted by: Cadet101

The letter says that they have created an opportunity for a small number of candidates with a score of 95 to be selected for the State Police Academy's 79th Recruit Training Troop. The selection activity schedule for candidates will be aggressive - there will be no time to make up appointments or rescheduling of events for those that cannot meed its demands. The activities will commence in October 2005.

I was shocked when I got the letter, because it seemed like 95's had no chance at all. This is great news for us 95 guys that have long awaited this letter. I wish you all the best of luck.

Posted by: ryan13

I was shocked to get my letter too, but what an exciting suprise. I'm stepping up the running now!!

Posted by: Wannabe1

I wonder if they randomly selected who got letters? I have a friend who got a 95 and didn't recieve one. How many 95's were there?

Posted by: Cadet101

I think it was close to 1000, but tell him not to worry because he could get his on Tuesday. Sunday and Monday = no mail. I just got mine yesterday.

Posted by: Pvt. Cowboy

If I remember correctly, there were 1290 people who scored a 95. It's gonna be one hell of a competition for those spots...

Posted by: mannysaba

Yes, I received my letter on Saturday. I will be declining because I took a position in North Carolina. The reason I applied for the NC job was because I thought I had no chance in hell. I am past the point of no return now so I will have to decline. My friend who is a Woonsocket cop told me I should try anyway and then move back. I leave Monday. The acedmy starts in Feb. The is next to impossible. I am upset though because this was a major goal of mine. What would you guys do?

Posted by: Mitpo62

Listen to your friend. You should NEVER pass up an opportunity to do better, especially when it is something you've always wanted!

Posted by: mannysaba

Do you guys think this may be for a reserve list in case some others drop out? Why wouldn't we attend the the run with the others. They gave no details in the letter other than our process would begin in October. I wonder how many are the small group selected. Good luck fellow 95ers!

Posted by: SGT_GRUNT_USMC

I was one of the "lucky" ones with a 95 that got a letter that took the test only 3 1/2 years ago in Worcester. But I'll have to decline due to now being a proud member of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (now in Week 11 of the Academy, only 12 more weeks to go).Good luck to all those 95'ers in the SPA.

Well, I wouldn't mind getting a chance even if it's on the standby list because they always get to everyone. You also have to figure in this exam is 3 1/2 years old and people move on to other careers. Im currently in the process with Phoenix Police because I lost hope and was looking forward to their academy come fall. I got this letter just in time.

They said activities will commence in Oct. Why would they give a date? They have to figure out how many 95s return the application. Im sure we will get another letter with the schedule of events after we submit our application.

Posted by: bburkie

How long is the run and how long do we have to do it? How about the obstacle course. Does anyone know what it entails?

Posted by: Cadet101

You should be able to do the 1.5 mile run in 12 flat. I don't know anything about the obstacle course.

Posted by: drewpopo

I got a 95, no letter here

I was in the exact same boat...moving to NC and everything until I got the letter for the 77th. Well, I stayed, finished and can say it was the best decision I ever made. If your family is cool with it, I'd stay and make it through the SPA. If you're hell bent on moving south, your accreditation from the academy here is good almost anywhere down south.

Hey...I'm new to the site and wanted to say that I got my letter on Tuesday. Did everyone fill out the app yet?

Posted by: bburkie

Still in the process of filling it out. Nice and short huh?

Posted by: BattleSignsUSMC

yeah, really short. does anyone know how many 95ers got a letter to fill the app out? i did my run today at the academy and there were only 102 people there...about 20 or so failed the run as well.

Posted by: Pvt. Cowboy

I hope I'm not getting excited about this for no reason... I hope there's a LOT of spaces left for us 95's...

At least I'm working through my shin splints and getting back into hardcore shape...

Posted by: AFSecForces

So, what was the time for the run? Was that it for the physical part of it? For the most part, I'm not having an issue with the app. I just don't have a lot of phone numbers for people 10 years ago.

I got a 95 and no letter yet?

Only 20 failed today? I thought it was more than that.

I was in the 2nd group during the 8am session and I think 4 or 5 failed in that group. Not positive though. I thougt they said they had more people coming in during the afternoon to run too, so maybe it was 20 for the day?

Posted by: Wannabe1

I'm not sure. I was in group 3(8 am session) and I believe 6 or 7 failed in my group.

Posted by: BattleSignsUSMC

there were 102 in the 12pm session. about 20 failed since 4 or 5 (x4 groups....16-20) failed in my group. how many were in the 8am group? we're down to 160 if 20 failed in that group as well. they're calling up some 95ers but i don't know how many(???). the 2 O-courses are said to be quite simple (if you can pass the run you won't have any problem with them). what it's really going to come down to is the oral board, the shrink test and ULTIMATELY the backround check. we'll know sometime in november. till then good luck to all the candidates in the run to become MSP officers!!!!

Posted by: cronus03766

I received a letter for the 79th last week. I am wondering how many people will complete the application by 19SEP2005....

Posted by: Dogma20001

This process is kind of screwed up. Mine started with the oral, then the background, then got the letter of conditional employment, then the next day got the Denied background letter(got my appeal date letter for October) At least I didn't have to waste a Sat and miss work for the Med and Psych during the week. The orals are not that bad, just remeber to keep your mouths shut in the waiting room, we got reamed out by a instructor nicknamed Hitler for someone whispering. You will probably get fingerprinted while you wait for your interview. Good Luck with the process.

I received a letter last week. Do they send notification regarding when and where to do the run?

There's no such thing as a "wasted" day trying to accomplish a goal of yours.

Posted by: Dogma20001

I meant that I lucked out in that aspect. It sucked getting denied, but at least I didn't miss work

Posted by: massirishcop

I got my letter...will defer till next class I think...........making to much cash on the municipal side............

Uhh...there's not going to be another class. The 79th is the last for this test. You'll have to take the next test again. Take the opportunity now.

Posted by: USB

I was told that they are planning to put a small maintenance class on after the 79th for the 80th. People that failed the run get automatically deferred, maybee 100 recruits. should eat up the rest of the 95's

Posted by: tigerwoody

Word here at the Plant is that they will be dipping into the 94s

Posted by: OciferpeteHPD3500

On the result sheet they classified scores 90-94 as a large number like 2 thousand something. Do you know how many 94's are on the list scored? I scored a 93.

Posted by: Wolfman

I heard they'll be auctioning off the next 20 slots on eBay as a fundraiser.

Posted by: smd6169

I heard the same. I heard that they goal is to raise enough money from these 20 slots to pay for the entire academy class (80th I think). I am already in the process of taking out a 2nd mortgage so I can place a winning bid. Good luck all!

Nice. Hunny can I have that ring back?

Posted by: Pvt. Cowboy

Will "negative feedback" have an impact on your background investigation? Is that an automatic disqualifier?

Posted by: Freddy Tiffany

Got the denial letter today, it said that 81 candidates moved on to the next phase. I think someone said the psych test was a few weeks ago, if you weren't invited to go you may be shit out of luck like me.

Posted by: Pvt. Cowboy

Let's hope they continue discussions regarding the maintenance class. And hope it gets funded.

Posted by: smd6169

Sorry to hear that. What stage did you make it up to?

Is the denial letter from Mr. Flynn or HRD? I haven't heard anything about taking the psych test and after seeing your post reality is starting to sit in. I guess I'll find out when I get home this evening or some time this week.

Posted by: Freddy Tiffany

Letter was from Mr. Flynn, it says I am eligible for a future class if there is one. Also stated that funding has not been secured for another class yet. I had the interview and PT test on 10/6 and 10/8. Passed the PT but must have bombed the interview, I was pretty nervous. Good luck to the rest of you.

Dont get down on yourself. I went for my original oral board in july for the 78th, got a letter saying that my oral score was not high enough. Then 2 weeks later i got another letter telling me to show up for my med and psych exam for the 79th. there is always a chance

Posted by: SPCHICK

Two questions: 1) Were all these rejection letters for 95's? If so, how far did you guys make it? 2) 96's get any word yet? OKay so thats three questions, but oh well. Good luck to everyone, and those of you who were denied, it isn't the end of the road yet...keep your chins up!!!
