National Fraternal Order of Police Official Release
As you know, Hurricane Katrina has struck the coast of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama and the damage has been devastating. The National Lodge has activated the Disaster Relief Committee and we will be sending as much aid as we can to our members in the affected areas.
The State Lodges are very busy trying to take care of their families and we are asking for our members to keep them in your thoughts and prayers. The State Lodges are not able to take your calls at this time and we are asking that all inquiries be made to the Grand Lodge and we will try to get information to you as soon as possible.
All Lodges are requested to send aid to the National Lodge and we will act as the focal point for distribution.
We will be monitoring the calls for assistance and we will post them on our web site as we obtain the information.
In these situations we have learned that the most important aid needed is money. Our members have experienced a terrible tragedy and many have lost their homes so money is the most important need at this time.
I have been in communication with the respective Presidents and they will establish a system to identify our members' needs and the State Lodges will be responsible for getting the funds to the members in need.
All monies should be sent to:
National Fraternal Order of Police 1410 Donelson Pike, Suite A-17 Nashville TN 37217
Make Checks payable to the Fraternal Order of Police Foundation. In the memo section please write "Hurricane Relief."
Thank you.
Chuck Canterbury National President
