The Harwich Police Department is seeking a qualified applicant to fill a current vacancy for the position of Police Dispatcher. Applications are available at the Harwich Police Department, 183 Sisson Road, Harwich, Ma 02645. Applicants must possess superior communication and customer service skills. The successful candidate will be required to work holidays, and weekends. The dispatcher will work a variety of shifts which will include days, evenings and midnights. Duties include, but are not limited to receiving/dispatching emergency and non emergency calls, greeting the public, computer and clerical work, along with closed circuit television monitoring of people in lock up. The starting salary is $31,406.64 plus benefits. A high school diploma or GED is required. The person selected must be a non smoker and have no felony convictions. The successful candidate will undergo a medical and psychological examination at the expense of the Harwich Police Department. The person hired will serve a twelve month probationary period of employment. Applications must be returned to the Harwich Police Department by Friday, September 16, 2005, at 3:00 p.m..
