Yup I remember you will make it this time.

Good luck Kozmo and others! The DOC is going to be hiring a real lot of people over the next year, hence a test in late summer. From what I hear they will try and hire a huge class of 150 in the very near future! And that is just to start things off.

The staffing levels in the prisons is at a all time record low.

Ya the class of 150 is supposed to start in early September and run 2 shifts 8-4 and 3-11. This info was straight fromt he academy when I went for my pre-screening 2 weeks ago. Good luck to everyone taking the test, start working out now because when you go up to Shirley you wanna max that PT test with all you got!!!!!!

Good Luck KK!!!!!

Hey Kozmo, earlier today I spoke with a gentelemen who recently got hired by the Mass D.O.C He will be turning 48 years old this June. Stay motivated buddy. I think you'll be one of the 150 COs they plan on hiring.

You too bro!!
From what I know of you; you'll ace it...
I'll most likely be taking it at the Cosentino Middle School in Haverhill; all of my prior CS exams have been there.
If you get assigned there too lets hook up for a coffee at DD if time permits.
If not, Best of Luck to you Jon and I’ll see you on a block someday!

Hey, just to let you guys know how hard up the DOC is, they gave people who failed the PAT another chance at it 2 weeks later. Instead of doing pushups first, they had them do situps first, thats where people failed the most. I had people with scores ranging from 96 to 87 in my group. They were 11 people shy of filling the class thats in right now because of the PAT. The instuctors are actually complaing about the class in right now, saying they are one of the worst recruit classes they have ever seen.(To those in right now, I'm not saying everyone, just some of them that are bringing the level down). Take the test, pass it and the PAT and you are pretty much guarenteed a spot. Good Luck and see you on the block.

Posted by: Billy5715

Well I finished all of my pre-employment screening I am now just waiting for my Backround Investagator to call me. Which will hopefully be soon when I talked to HR yesterday they told me that no one had been given the offical job for the September 6th start date and that my file was one of about 60 that was waiting for an investagator which su*cks because guys I had the PAT with in Shirley have gotten theres done already. Not worried tho I have no criminal history, and or driving history and or any other problems so as usual it is the hurry up and wait game I thought I left that behind in the military but I guess I didn't!!! Well good luck to everyone taking the test in SEP and have in Pre-Screening when you get that card!!!

Did I misread that? The BI is done by phone? No in person interview?

Posted by: Channy1984

No. You'll sit down with the BI on PAT day. The guy said they would call at a later time but I dont know what's going on with that. Considering they're trying to put a class of 150 through it's probably going to take a little longer than he said.

DOC Guys - how does a class of 150 compare against a usual academy class size? Isn’t 150 kind of large?
I was under the impression that class sizes were like 40 or 50...

Posted by: Barbrady

Sounds about right. They need officers now. Expect an academy size of 150 with 4 classes of 30-40 per. Example: Classes#296-300 . I don't know what academy numbers they are up to.

Posted by: Billy5715

Well we have to wait for them to call us so we can do a person to person interveiw. Then again some other guys all they did was talk to the Investagator on the phone and they where all set. I think HR is trying to pre-screen too many guys at one time, from what they are saying tho all the BI are done randomly so who knows I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Koz, good luck buddy, you'll do ok. and remember, there is no shame in puking at the end of the run as long as you finish the run

In my grunt unit it was a prerequisite after a 5 mile boots & uts run.

Posted by: Billy5715

It's ok to puke during the run too. Just go to the outside lane, but don't stop running. Don't worry about getting it on yourself they make you take a shower after the PT test anyways. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Posted by: KozmoKramer

Kenny, ProudAm, Billy - A good "boot" at he end of the run is the least of my worries.

Every orifice in my body will be discharging some sort of bodily excretion. But if you want something bad enough you suck it up and make it happen right!!

Have a good one boys and continued good luck to all of you!
