BROCKTON — Police say no one was shot in the incident. Although police said no one was shot on Pine Street early Tuesday evening, groups of neighbors insisted they heard a gunshot fired in their East Side enclave. “We responded to a disturbance-slash-fight,” said Sgt. Mark Porcaro. “Nobody was shot.” Porcaro declined to comment further. Fire officials said they did not transport a victim from Pine Street at that time. Police Lt. Bruce Zeidman said later the incident remained under investigation. Brockton police and state police cruisers clogged the eastern end of the one-way street shortly after 5 p.m. while startled neighbors gathered on lawns. The incident comes less than a month after a man was reportedly found June 28 at 210 Pine St. with nonfatal stab wounds after a fight. Just days before the alleged stabbing, police had arrested a group of teenagers who had “terrorized” the nearby Taylor Avenue neighborhood in recent months. “It’s just constant chaos,” said one woman, who declined to give her name, after Tuesday’s incident. “We are worried. We are disgusted.” A man who lives on Pine Street, who also declined to be identified, said he feared more bloodshed. “They’ll retaliate tonight,” he said.
