GRANT COUNTY, Ky. --
A man is dead after a lengthy standoff with Grant County officers.
Neighbors said the incident began Saturday night when Patrick pulled a gun on another man on Jillian Drive near Dry Ridge.
Patrick left before police arrived but returned Sunday night and fired shots, neighbors said, and the standoff began around 3 a.m.
At about 9:30 p.m. Monday, a Kentucky State Police special response team was called out after an officer who was attempting to serve a warrant, noticed Kenneth Patrick, 46, walking toward the door with a gun.
The response team fired a tear gas canister inside the home and then sent a K-9 in.
Officers said they heard a shot after the K-9 went in and they sent in two robots.
One of the robots ascertained that Patrick was dead.
Investigators went inside the home and found Patrick’s body.
“Honestly, he is a good guy until about a year and a half, two years ago, he got real sick and had some health problems, and after that he just started drinking,” said neighbor Steven Hesel.
Some neighbors were evacuated from their homes, and others were ordered to remain indoors until the standoff ended.
