BOSTON -- Officials in Fitchburg are working to identify human remains that were found in the woods late last week, Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said Monday.
The bones were found Friday morning near the 600 block of Water Street by children who were playing in the woods.
Investigators said the skeletal remains have been in the woods for between six months and two years. State police detectives assigned to the district attorney's office and Fitchburg detectives were treating the area as a crime scene.
FITCHBURG - Authorities have identified human remains discovered in a wooded area of Fitchburg as those of Sharon Norris who went missing nearly two years ago. Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said Tuesday that investigators used dental records to identify the remains found Friday in the rear of the 600 block of Water Street. Two children playing in the area stumbled upon the skeletal remains. Norris, who also known as Sharon Kuykendall, was last seen alive in August of 2006. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine the cause and manner of her death.
