SAN DIEGO—A charter boat passenger who fell overboard was saved by Harbor Police, only to violently struggle against his rescuers until they shot and killed him aboard the police boat. Harbor Police Lt. Ken Franke says the charter boat reported a man overboard in San Diego Bay at about 11:10 p.m. on Saturday. After police found the man and fished him out of the bay, the man fought with the two officers. Franke says the unidentified charter boat passenger took one officer's stun gun and struck him with it. When the man tried to then take the officer's handgun, the other officer fatally shot the man once in the torso. The injured officer was treated for face and leg injuries. The incident remains under investigation. MERCURY NEWS
