A Weymouth woman is among those recently arrested in Braintree and Boston on prostitution charges as part of Operation Cross Country, a nationwide effort to stop child prostitution and trafficking.
Corrinne Faye McInnes, 26, of Weymouth, was arrested in Boston along with six others.
Those arrested in Braintree were arraigned in Quincy District Court.
They are: Jennifer Canessa, 21, of Revere; Latoya Thomas-Dickson, 19, of Worcester; Shannalee Kadian Whitely, 24, and Joseph Williams, 32, both of Dorchester; Xiu Guang Zhang, 44, of Boston; Jessica Dyer, 19, of Vassalboro, Maine; and Mingli Liu, 44, of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Williams faces an additional charge of operating with a suspended license.
A 25-year-old Boston woman, also arrested in Braintree, is only charged with operating with a revoked license.
In a five-day national enforcement action, the FBI was joined by authorities in 16 cities across the country that led to the recovery of 21 children.
Locally, the FBI worked with Braintree, Quincy and Boston police, the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Department, State Police and the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council.
Many of the children forced into prostitution are either runaways or what authorities call “thrown-aways” – kids whose families have shunned them.
Officials allege an organized network of pimps lured them with shelter or drugs, then often beat, starved or abused them until the children agreed to work.
Other cities targeted in the sting included Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oakland, Calif., Phoenix, Reno, Nev., Sacramento, Calif., Tampa, Fla.; and Toledo, Ohio.
