Prosecutors Say Woman Tried To Deliver Marijuana To Son
BERLIN, N.H. -- The mother of a 24-year-old New Hampshire man in prison for giving his girlfriend a fatal heroin dose now faces charges she tried to smuggle marijuana to her son.
Holly Palmer, 43, of Newton, N.H., was charged with conspiracy to deliver articles to prisoners and with delivering marijuana to the state prison in Berlin.
Her son, Dante Silva, was charged with two counts of conspiracy to deliver articles to prisoners. Silva is serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole for 10 years. He injected his 18-year-old girlfriend with heroin, and then after seeing her overdose, collected incriminating evidence and left.
Prison officials secretly recorded the mother and son talking on the phone. Prosecutors said Palmer was arrested March 16 at the prison with a bag of marijuana.
Palmer waived arraignment June 10 and remains free on bail.
The pair have been ordered not to contact one another.
