In York, Maine a teen who placed a pair of dead fish in the middle school bathroom ceiling during a school dance will be charged through the confidential juvenile justice process, say police.
Sgt. Gary Finley said a 14-year-old boy placed two mackerel in a suspended school rest room ceiling at about 9 p.m. on June 21 when students were there for a dance.
“Mackerel is going really good right now in the river. They’re cheap,” said Finley. “If he brought tuna fish, I would’ve gone down there and got them.”
Finley said School Resource Officer Scott Cogger knew something was fishy the following morning because “it stunk.”
Catching the mackerel prankster was easy because of the way students communicate, said Finley.
“Of course a 14-year-old tells one kid and then they all know,” he said.
Cogger filed a related disorderly conduct charge, which will be adjudicated through the juvenile system due to the student’s age, said Finley.
