Some pricey puppies have been stolen from a local motel, and the owner is beside himself, pleading for their safe return.
The robbery happened on Tuesday at the Blue Star Motor Inn on Route 1.
Jeffrey Wilson, a local construction worker, had been living at the motel with his pit bull Jazmyn and her 12, five-week-old puppies, while he tried to find a more permanent place to stay.
Wilson and his girlfriend were recently in a car accident, and when they returned from the hospital, they found the dogs missing. The door to the hotel was kicked in and the cages were opened, but nothing else was taken.
Wilson already had buyers lined up for some of the pups, and estimates the whole litter is worth between $8,000 and $9,000.
ABC 6 chief reporter Jim Hummel says Wilson is now offering a reward for Jazmyn and her dozen puppies...
RICHMOND, R.I. (AP) - Five puppies and their mother have been returned to their owner after the dogs were stolen last week from a motel room in Westerly.
The dogs were dropped off over the weekend at a dog park in Richmond and discovered by an animal control officer.
Still, seven of the 12 stolen puppies remain missing.
Jeffrey Wilson reported last week that Jazmyn, a blue-nose American Staffordshire terrier, and 12 of her puppies had been stolen from the Blue Motor Inn in Westerly.
The dogs were left at the motel while Wilson went to pick up his girlfriend from the hospital.
Wilson is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the discovery of the other missing puppies.
