Troopers On Bicycles?

I was patrolling around the South End yesterday and was surprised to see about 6 troopers patrolling on bicycles. When did they start this program?

This shot was taken by the globe in 1996, I believe this is the year they implemented it.

Just FYI and off topic but the next SSPO class is going to have the 3-day COBWEB course as part of the 16 week academy.

I love riding at work.

MSP Troopers have been deployed on bicycles for at least four years. I was on a ride along with a trooper along the Charles River (H4) and we passed a trooper on a bike. I am positive it was a trooper, because the trooper I was riding with made a point out of harassing his buddy over the PA.

Troopers harass local cops, too.

jsg2020:

You are absolutely correct about Troopers harassing locals, but my friend (the Trooper I was riding with) told me that this particular harassee was a fellow Trooper. Locals harass Troopers too. I think this forum in general proves how much everyone harasses everyone else. It is all the same job, just different aspects.
