PELHAM, N.H. -- Police in Pelham, New Hampshire, have charged a day care provider with kidnapping for leaving an infant with another child-care provider without the mother's knowledge. Police say 21-year-old Jessica Provencal acknowledged posting an online ad to find other care for the boy and pretending to be the child's mother. Police say the eight-month-old boy had been in Provencal's care twice a week since he was six weeks old. During that time Provencal allegedly left him with three separate providers. Detectives say the boy's mother had no idea someone else had been caring for her child. Provencal ran a day care service called "Child Care on the Go." In addition to kidnapping, police charged her with endangering the welfare of a child and theft. She was released on $2,500 bail pending a June 16 court date.
