FITCHBURG -- Police are trying to connect a report of shots fired on Federal Street on Thursday morning to two men claiming to be gun shot victims, said Fitchburg Police Sgt. Glenn Fossa.
"At this point, there is nothing to connect the alleged victims to the shooting," Fossa said.
Police arrested four people Thursday evening on unrelated charges while investigating the shooting, Fossa said.
Two men admitted themselves to the HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster emergency room early Thursday afternoon, claiming they had been shot in Fitchburg, according to Leominster Police Sgt. Michael Ciccolini.
Fitchburg detectives began investigating an alleged shooting in the Federal Street area shortly before the alleged victims showed up at the hospital, said Fossa.
Fossa said the alleged victims did not provide much information on the shooting.
"They were unable to provide a definite location or description of the suspects to police," Fossa said.
Fitchburg Police Officer Paul McNamara stopped a car at the corner of North Street and Main Street later Thursday evening and recognized some of the people in the car as possible people of interest in the shooting investigation, Fossa said.
McNamara called for backup after witnessing suspicious movements in the car during the initial stop, according to Fossa. Police said they found a loaded .22 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver, a bag containing a powdery, white substance consistent with cocaine, eight individual baggies containing a hard, white substance consistant with crack cocaine, and 10 white pills believe to be Vicodine.
The suspects are Sean N. Mitchell, 25, of 84 Adams St., Leominster, Terrence Harper Jr., 19, of 48 Cedar St., Fitchburg, Hatsanai A. Manivong, 33, of 10 Abby Road, Leominster, and Krysti N. Wagner, 22, of 170 Spruce St., Leominster.
