Three women are charged with abducting a 24-year-old man and holding him for ransom before viciously beating him and then leaving him in a burning Allston apartment on Sunday in what investigators are calling a drug-related kidnapping, police said.
Farrah Girault, 29, of Roxbury, Cheerley Chevalier, 30, of Taunton and Jillian Jacques, 23, of Allston allegedly bound the man to a chair with a hairdryer cord and along with several other suspects viciously beat him until he bled from the eyes and vomited blood in Jacques’ apartment at 118 Glenville Ave., police say.
Jacques was held on $50,000 bail, and Girault and Chevalier on $25,000 each in Brighton District Court on charges of kidnapping for ransom, assault with intent to murder and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
Police have also obtained an arrest warrant for a man believed to be an accomplice.
The victim’s brother walked into the District D-14 station in Brighton on Sunday after receiving a call demanding $5,000 in ransom, said Sgt. Det. James Fong. It was unclear at what time the victim disappeared, but investigators estimated he spent up to 10 hours in captivity.
“(The victim) told his brother, ‘They’re beating me now,’ ” Fong said.
Undercover cops shadowed the victim’s brother to the ransom location at Vine and Dudley streets in Roxbury. They watched him make the cash drop before busting Girault and Chevalier in a 2003 silver Mercedes, police said.
Later, while detectives searched the area near the victim’s house, a fire alarm went off in a nearby apartment at about 10 p.m. “We ran upstairs and - bingo - there’s our victim,” Fong said.
A nine-pack of toilet paper was left to burn on a stove and a mattress was ablaze in a child’s room, Fong said. Police indicated arson charges could follow. Jacques’ 4-year-old child is staying with relatives and was not home at the time of the blaze, Fong said. Police plan to file a 51-A complaint of neglect to the Department of Social Services.

Fourth person charged in abduction plot

June 6, 2008

BOSTON
A fourth person has been charged in an apparent kidnapping scheme that unraveled with an attempt to burn a Brighton apartment with the victim inside, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said. Domonic Campbell, 20, of Cambridge pleaded not guilty to charges including arson, assault with attempt to murder, and kidnapping with intent to extort money while armed and was held on $50,000 cash bail. Three others - Cheerley Chevalier, 30, of Taunton; Farrah Girault, 29, of Roxbury; and Jill Jacques, 23, of Allston had already been charged in connection with the alleged abduction of a 24-year-old Allston man Sunday and an attempt to extort $5,000 in ransom money from his family. As police followed family members who were delivering the money and intercepted two people who accepted it, the Boston Fire Department and medics were called to a Glenville Avenue apartment in Allston, where the victim had been beaten and tied to a chair and a fire started.
