VICTORVILLE, Calif. — Thanks to an anonymous tip, sheriff's deputies seized about $5,000 in cash and $1,500 worth of methamphetamine from a Victorville h o m e Saturday morning , officials said.
At about 1 a.m., officers from the High Desert Regional S.M.A.S.H. Gang Unit served a search warrant on a home in the 15000 block of Yates Road, said Deputy Brian Roper.
Inside they found eight people and determined that two men, later identified as Jeffrey Carter and James Haines, lived at the home and had been selling the drugs, Roper said.
Inside Carter's pocket officials found nearly $5,000 in cash, Roper said.
"Although we only found about an ounce of meth, we believe that they had bought a much larger amount and sold it before we got there," Roper said.
Of the two ar rested for selling drugs, one was on parole and the other was on probation, Roper said.
"The reason they felt so comfortable selling drugs out of this home is that they had not registered that address with their probation officers," Roper commented.
The anonymous tip that led to the arrests came from a person who noticed a lot of people coming in and out of the home, although the two men had only moved in about a month ago, Roper said.
"We watched the home for a few days and then asked for a warrant," Roper said.
Along with the drugs and money, deputies found a meth pipe, two scales and a plastic bag full of what officials believe to be prescription muscle relaxers, Roper said.
Carter and Haines were booked for possession with the intent to sell.
Another unidentified man was arrested for a parole violation.
