ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. --
A nine-vehicle crash on the Beachline killed one person and trapped two other motorists in a burning car, forcing the closure of the busy road.
Police said a vehicle crossed state Road 528 at mile marker 29 at about 8 a.m. and collided head-on with at least one car.
The collision sparked a series of chain-reaction crashes.
Two people were ejected from vehicles during the collision, Local 6's Kim Sanders reported. The motorist killed in the crash was apparently ejected from a vehicle, Local 6 reported.
Sky 6 showed video of one of the cars burning and cut in half on the side of the road. The flames were higher than 6 feet as emergency crews tried to rescue people.
Two medical helicopters carried injured motorists away from the scene.
All lanes of the roadway were expected to remain closed Monday morning while emergency crews assist the injured motorists and troopers investigate the cause of the crash.
Troopers were diverting traffic at state Road 417 and asked motorists to avoid the area Monday morning. Florida Highway Patrol troopers said there was another multiple vehicle crash about a mile away.
