A member of the Animal Rescue League of Boston tends to a puppy taken from a house filled with dogs on Thayer Circle in Randolph yesterday.

A Randolph house that literally went to the dogs was raided by animal control officers who broke up an “illegal breeding operation” and rescued as many as 90 dogs and pups, authorities said.
Lt. Alan Borgal, a law enforcement officer for the Animal Rescue League, said the conditions at the house on Thayer Circle were “extremely unsanitary,” forcing authorities to execute a search warrant at the house after the tenants failed to show up for a planned meeting.
“The high ammonia odor from urine and feces was unbearable,” said Borgal, who with a team of rescue technicians and veterinarians removed dozens of dogs from the site to the Animal Rescue League headquarters in Boston and other area veterinary clinics for evaluation.

According to Borgal, the Cape-style house was rented by Linda Snow and Mark Zimmerman. Snow is reportedly the owner of a Stoughton pet shop and sells puppies on the Internet. Efforts to reach the pair last night were unsuccessful.
“We felt the animals were abandoned by the owners,” Borgal said. He said the house was only occupied by dogs and violated numerous kennel licensing laws. “A kennel has to be kept sanitary and must be a humane detention for animals,” he added. It was condemned by town health officials.
“This is an active investigation,” said Christopher Smalley of the Animal Rescue League in Boston. “We’re working in conjunction with Randolph Police, Randolph Animal Rescue, and the state’s department of agricultual resources.” Authorities declined to comment on whether criminal charges will be filed.

DEDHAM —
Two months ago Linda Snow was nowhere to be found when police and the Animal Rescue League of Boston raided a filth-filled Randolph home to seize more than 100 neglected puppies and older dogs.
On Friday the owner of the now-closed Missy’s Puppy Land in Stoughton made her first public appearance in Norfolk Superior Court, to plead innocent to seven counts of cruelty to animals and one count of malicious destruction of property.
Judge Thomas A. Connors released Snow on personal recognizance. She’ll be back in court on Aug. 22.
Under pretrial probation she can’t work for a pet-related business, be involved in the sale of animals or have other contact with pets.
Her business associate, Mark Zimmerman, failed to appear for his arraignment, so Judge Connors issued a default warrant for his arrest. Authorities have repeatedly tried to contact him since the house at 8 Thayer Circle in Randolph was raided on May 28.
The ranch-style house was leased to Snow and may have been subleased to another person. The property owner called the police, and the Rescue League got a search warrant.
What they found was “the worst I’ve ever seen,” the Rescue League’s Lt. Alan Borgan said. Some dogs were running free in the house, while others were in cages. The basement was apparently used for breeding.
In court a Rescue League attorney said the organization has spent $106,000 to care for 111 animals, including 29 puppies born at the Randolph house.
Snow raised and sold expensive, specialized breeds known as “designer dogs” – Tiny Yorkies, cockapoos, labradoodles.
After the May 28 raid, numerous pet owners said dogs they’d bought from Snow soon became sick and in a few instances died.

Makes me sick..

I have to admit we got our "jug", Tyson from Missy's in Stoughton in 2004.
Everything there appeared like a legit storefront. Just goes to show you you just neverknow. The happy ending is that our dog is happy and healthy. Probably the exception to the rule.

Her store for the most part is legitimate (barely); it's what she does off the books that gets her in trouble.
