SUFFIELD - Suffield police have arrested four Western Massachusetts teenagers in connection with a rash of vehicle burglaries that occurred one early morning last August.
The names and other information regarding the suspects, all 17, have not been released due to their ages.
The burglaries occured Aug., 29 in neighborhoods north of the center of town, between Route 75 and Route 159, police said.
The suspects targeted only unlocked cars and stole electronic items, purses and money. One burglary resulted in the theft of a woman's credit card which was then used at a McDonald's restaurant in Enfield, police said.
Another victim's Nissan Maxima sustained nearly $3,000 in damages after it was stolen from a driveway and crashed nearby. The Maxima had been left in the driveway with the keys in the ignition, police said.
After several months of investigations, arrest warrant applications were signed by Enfield Superior Court and the teens turned themselves in to Suffield police after learning of their active warrants.
A total of 14 arrest warrants were served including charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, burglary, conspiracy to commit larceny, conspiracy to commit theft of a credit card and giving a false statement, police said.
Suffield police urge all residents to lock their vehicles.
Stolen items include navigational units, cell phones, radar detectors, and i-Pods.
