ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. --
Someone fired shots at an Orange County deputy Thursday night. The deputy was making an arrest when someone pulled out a gun at the Seville Place apartments (see map).
INTERVIEW: Sheriff Kevin Beary Talks About Crime
Dozens of deputies swarmed the apartment, roads were shut down, and someone was shot with a taser. Orange County deputies were called to the apartment complex when two of neighbors got into a fist fight. But when the two men involved began recounting their stories of what happened to deputies, a new fight began.
It seemed like nearly everyone in the apartment complex was outside and watching the chaos overnight. Deputies rushed to the scene for a dispute between neighbors shortly before 11:00pm.
But as both sides told authorities what happened one of the men involved got angry.
"My husband realized he wasn't telling the truth, so Samuel interrupted him and tried to get him, 'that's not right. This is what happened,' you know," said Sandra Alexander, a witness.
As the man started yelling, other family members got involved, too. Deputies said it quickly became so chaotic that they were forced to taser one of the men. Moments later, shots were fired somewhere in the complex.
"While trying to make the arrest, somebody shot at the deputies and toward the crowd," said Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary.
With residents still outside, deputies swept the entire complex looking for the shooter. They promised a strong presence in this Pine Hills area for the upcoming holiday weekend.
There was no sign of a shooter. Three of the four people arrested where family members who said deputies used too much force.
