HALIFAX —
A Quincy High School teacher accused of molesting a 9-year-old girl in his home allegedly had her “play school” while he watched pornography.
Norman J. Finizio II, 46, of 1 White Island Road, was arrested Thursday and charged with indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
The special education teacher pleaded not guilty in Plymouth District Court, and Judge Thomas Brownell ordered him held without bail at the Plymouth County jail until Wednesday, when there will be a hearing to determine whether he would pose a danger if released.
The girl “told her mother that Norman would always put the pornography movies on his computer screen to watch. They always played school in his office,” a police report on file at Plymouth District Court says.
This allegedly went on between the summers of 2006 and 2007, according to the report.
The girl’s mother told police that she had confronted Finizio at one point after her daughter said he had explained to her what happens when a man likes a woman. “He explained how his body changes” the report says.
Finizio told her that he may have “crossed the line, and he only said it because he is a teacher and kids come to him,” according to the report.
The mother went to police on Monday, after he daughter told her that she had continued seeing Finizio.

PLYMOUTH —
A Quincy High School teacher accused of molesting a 9-year-old girl in his Halifax house is headed home after being released by a judge today.
Norman J. Finizio II, 46, of 1 White Island Road, was arrested May 22 and charged with indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. He was expected to post $1,000 cash bail and return home today.
Plymouth District Court Judge Thomas Brownell ordered Finizio to wear an electronic bracelet, avoid contact with the girl and her family and with other children under 16. He must also not use any computers, since Internet images of child pornography were involved in the alleged incidents.
Finizio's attorney, William McElligott of Pembroke, said he's pleased with Brownell's decision to let his client go, because Finizio has no criminal record.
Finizio has been a special education teacher at Quincy High since 1996. He's been on paid administrative leave since he was arrested. His annual salary was $65,536 in 2007.
During a dangerousness hearing today, a Halifax police officer said the girl told investigators that Finizio showed her pornographic videos “three to six times” between the summer of 2006 and the summer of 2007, and each time asked her to hold his penis.
All the alleged episodes took place in an upstairs office in Finizio's home.
F'ing creep. Though it sounds like the mother was none too quick on the uptake here as well. It would be interesting to know why the girl was in this mans home.
