What retirement group are State College PO's? Group 2 or 4?

neither Group 1 [/list]

Didnt they try and pass the bill putting State college POs in group 2? I could have sworn I read that somewhere... Ill have to dig it up...

The state of assachusetts (no there no typo there) grouped state campus police officers with secretaries, receptionists, grounds keepers and maintainers in group-1. If you work for DMH, DPH, DMR you can get up graded to group 2 when you retire because they work with the mentally ill which can bump you up an extra group. All othe campus police can do the same but it is an uphill battle with the board of retirement to get a group 2 retirement status. A few guys I worked with six months before they retired had to jump through hoops and do a song and dance before they got group 2 from the retirement board, but they did it. State campus police unions have been trying in vain to get the legislator to get campus police in a group 2 retirement for at least 6 years but everytime it shot down.

I can't speak for DMR or DPH but I do know for a fact that within the past three years DMH CPO's who have tried to retire with Group 2 have been denied by the Retirement Board (and lost the subsequent appeals)because we do not spend 50% of our shift providing direct care.
