MILFORD — Ten police officers yesterday raided a Paula Road home and seized nearly 300 grams of drugs and arrested a suspected dealer, police said. Amilcar Almodovar, 31, was arrested following a search of his 34 Paula Road, home that netted about 250 grams of cocaine, 28 grams of marijuana, packaging materials, cutting agents and scales, Police Chief Thomas O'Loughlin said. Police also found $3,000 cash, which police believe is derived from drug sales. O'Loughlin said yesterday's raid was the culmination of an ongoing investigation for five Milford Police officers and five state police officers. The chief said Almodovar is wanted in Rhode Island for the same offenses. As a result, he was charged with being a fugitive from justice in Rhode Island and furnishing a false name and Social Security number. He said Almodovar has used a number of different aliases. "There's a whole list of names," he said. Milford Police Detective Carlos Sousa worked with the State Police Detective Unit from District Attorney Joseph Early's office on the investigation, O'Loughlin said. Almodovar was charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Authorities can charge a person with trafficking when more than 14 grams of cocaine are found, the chief said. If convicted, the charge carries a mandatory jail sentence of three years and a fine of $2,500 to $25,000. For each charge of possession of drugs with intent to distribute, Almodovar could face up to 10 years in state prison or fines between $1,000 and $10,000. Almodovar was ordered held on $25,000 cash bail. He will be arraigned today in Milford District Court. Police are continuing their investigation, with more suspects, O'Loughlin said.
