How is this pd to work for? What is the pay for an entry level patrolman?

Posted by: HELPMe

I heard pay is in the 20 dollar an hr range. VERY Competitive.

Posted by: Grasshopper

I've met a few. They were very nice and very professional. Boston College is a great institution!

Posted by: celticsfan

Great department, but from what I hear, kinda slow (a.k.a. not too much excitement).

They most definately have their moments. I USED to listen to them on a regular basis but like at least two other schools in the area (BU, HU) they seem to have gone digital in their radio system.

with the catholic mission does this mean that gays, lesbeins and trans people need not to apply? b/c that would be against the catholic mission!

or does this mean that homophobic people are not wanted b/c you(masscopguy) doesn't like their view, opinon and you think they will treat people different b/c of their sex orentation?

Can we not ruin this job posting thread with political crap?

Posted by: j809

One of my academy class mates worked there. For four years he only made one arrest and got nothing but crap for it. He is now working for a town and very happy to be out of there. Money is great and so are the sights.

That would not be against the Catholic mission! The Catholic mission is to be welcoming as well as tolerant to all peoples including but not limited to LGBT or even those who are homophobic. The College has had a Gay/Straight Alliance since 2003.

They use to print a police blotter in the student newspaper (The Heights). How much excitement they may or may-not have could be posted on their website

FYI...The Department does have gay and lesbian officers..Who cares?? Also, they can be busy but have zero backing from their Chief especially when dealing with one of their arrogant ahole athletes.Their officers have been assaulted only to find out the Chief is getting a CWOF before it goes anywhere...Not a good scene for those officers and I only hope they get a new chief

sharp stick up his ass, now I LIKE that idea. Didn't that chief come from the State Police? I met him at Off. Tom Devlin's wake. He seemed like a good guy with lots of pride in his department. Then again, I only spoke to him for a few minutes so I can't really judge. I just would really like to think he wouldn't sell his own people out or throw them under a bus. A chief like that, no matter if it's a big school or a community college, doesn't deserve the job but DOES deserve a big sharp stick up his/her ass.

Human Popsicle! I LOVE THAT!

I am a former member of the department, I left to go to a local town(civil service). The pay is good. Free education for you, wife and kids. It was very busy when I was there, I left a year ago. The Chief needs to move on along with a few others. The department has its problems like any other department. If you don't mind the politics then it isn't a bad place. It is a great place to start out if you are looking to get into law enforcement.

Whoa, don't read into that! hee hee hee You wicked girl you!

I've heard from a very reliable source that the department is taking a few steps BACKWARD and like robodope said, INTERNAL PROBLEMS. The Chief (Di Fava) had some problems dealing with the Union and the Institute gave him another, NON-CHIEF OF POLICE job. He has some input, but he's no longer the man in charge.

This may be a case of the rank-in-file shooting itself in the foot and retarding true progress and I'm sure the administration of the Institute got scared at the thought of REAL cops keeping them safe.

The new person in charge is responsible for the slaughter of the lieutenants and things sliding back to when Ann "The Dip" Glavin ran the place. In other words, 1950s campus policing and 1940s municipal policing. Remember, most of our college departments are a few years behind our municipal counterparts and there are plenty of people running these departments that want to put us TWENTY years behind. Disgusting.

It's sad because MIT was becoming one of the best damned departments in the state, bar none.

Wow. That sounds like such a shame! It must have all started going downhill when Toscanninis left the student center huh? Can't get any better ice cream than theirs! Even the Harvard Square one is closed now. At least Central Square reopened! *yippee*

"Whoa, don't read into that! hee hee hee You wicked girl you!"

LOL are you getting flirty with me? Careful I'm a married woman!

Oh my God Jim!
Ann really did like me remember? I heard she's a dried up prune in sunny californicate. In any event Look how happy we are now and how much we miss that place!

You know when it comes to campus police knowledge, only MPD61 comes close to you, you're practically a diety among the Higher-Ed departments!

Oh my dear Grasshopper.....

I hate to say, I've never tried their Ice Cream, but I've heard so many good things about it. Maybe some day.

As for getting flirty...ME? I never flirt with anyone. Way too low of a self esteem. I'm married too. Now you know why I have low self esteem! aaaaaaaaaaahahahaha. Flirtation is just a fun form of communication that sometimes leads to embarassing situations or more flirting.

I'm lost, what were we talking about?

Ann LOVED you. You just didn't know how to read those subtle signals. Cal State Northridge is blessed for having her. I never worked for her, and I thank God for that.

As for that nice thing you said, mpd61 is my hero and always will be. Even if we disagree on a subject, he's always got class and I look up to his oh so educated and cultured wisdom on all matters and even when I DO disagree, I will agree on the principal that he is always right and I'm always wrong.

Now, Please ask him nicely if he'll give me the code to diffuse the bomb under my car. I'll play nice from now on, I swear!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha. Nah, Woody is a very knowledgible guy. He can even spell better than I can.

OMG! Where oh where did you get that picture of Annie? Wow, she dyed her hair! Oh how I miss thee!

That picture is on the Cal State Northridge page and doesn't she look MAH-VEL-OUS!?!?

Again, though I never worked for her, I always admired the way she ran a tight ship. What a gal! Top cop all the way! Fabulous skills in Policing! Spry, clever mind. Very analytical mind, the type that makes Sherlock Holms look like a rank amature! Great people skills too.

Hey, btw, I'm applying to Cal State Northridge. Anyone want to be a reference?

All you MIT guys, someone should send a letter to the Union President asking how she's working out. I can't help but wonder what kind of response you'd get.

Oh, come on! "Embarrassing situations" can normally make for fun times. We need a little self-deprecation every once in a while...

...and for all that's good and holy! You've never had Toscis ice cream? You need to grab the wife and take her there as soon as you can. It's better than flowers (well as good good as anyway)! Their cappuccino is great if they have it...he burnt caramel is amazing so too is their grasshopper. *wink*
