ROCHESTER, N.H. -- A New Hampshire state representative arrested three times in two months has been arrested again.
Nancy Warren, of Rochester, was charged with stalking after, police said, she violated the terms of her bail. The previous charges involve a series of domestic disputes she has had with a male neighbor.
Police said Warren contacted the man after the court told her to avoid him.
"We took a complaint on the ninth of this month from the same victim, who said she had contacted him several times via cell phone," Lt. Paul Toussaint said.
Warren faces a long list of misdemeanor charges, including simple assault for allegedly throwing a drink in the man's face. She has not been convicted of anything.
In Concord, where Warren serves on the Commerce Committee, colleagues said they're puzzled by the charges.
"Most people feel she needs some help," Rep. Julie Brown said.
Brown said Warren attended last week's House session wearing an electronic monitoring device around her ankle. She can't attend sessions this week because she remains in jail.
"(Her constituents) have one less person to represent their interests over here," Brown said.
Members of the Legislative Ethics Committee said they have not received a complaint about Warren, so there is no cause to examine her situation at this time. Many indicated they would wait for her cases to move through the court system before undertaking any kind of inquiry.
Like all state representatives, Warren is up for re-election in the fall. Representatives typically haven't indicated by this point whether they will run again.
"Members of the Legislative Ethics Committee said they have not received a complaint about Warren, so there is no cause to examine her situation at this time."
HELLO! She broke a court order and was arrested four times. If that does not constitute as an ethical issue I don't know what does.
