Austin Texas Police Coming to the Boston Area in June 2008 Enjoy a growing city, low crime, reasonable cost of living, warm weather and great pay and benefits. Several officers have made the move from Massachusetts and the New England area to the Austin Police Department.
We are civil service and one of the strongest unions in Texas. With pay/benefits and cost of living we have been rated one of the best police departments in the country. By your second year you will be earning an average salary in the mid $60,000 range minus OT. You can also afford a house under $200,000 in a great neighborhood.
The Austin Police Department will be hiring approximately 130 cadets for a class starting in March 2009. Our department is anticipated to grow by an additional 700 new officers over 5 years.
Visit the web site at apdrecruiting.org for more details on the Austin Police Department.
The Job Fair will be held Thursday, June 05, 2008 - 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Gillette Stadium One Patriot Stadium Foxborough MA 02035
Interested applicants may complete a contact card on the Austin Police Recuiting Unit web site apdrecruiting.org so that a recruiter can speak with you about the process and potential testing at the job fair to save you one trip to Austin, Texas.
The Austin Police Recruiting Trip is less than one month away. If you want to test with us at the job fair contact Sgt. Fortune at arthur.fortune@ci.austin.tx.us
Testing will be for a limited number of applicants who have reserved a spot.

Thanks for all of the responses by personal email. We still have room for approximately 10 to 15 additional applicants to test at Gillette Stadium on June 5th. Please email Sgt. Fortune at arthur.fortune@ci.austin.tx.us if you wish to test. If you have questions and need more information feel free to email me.
I can accept test reservations up until June 2nd. You will be required to complete initial applications so it would be better to get a head start now on the paperwork.
If you decide not to test at this time and would like to speak with one of the recruiters stop by the job fair as we anticipate coming back at a future job fair.
We are also looking at the possibility of a modified academy for current certified police officers with at least 3 years experience as a patrol officer. The academy would be 12 weeks long and pay would be starting at $61,000 plus. I expect this program to be started in late 2009 or early 2010.
If interested please email me.
