Main Page Question about the movie Mystic River

I was watching Mystic River on tv tonight and I was curious if the MSP and BPD officers in the movie were real officers hired as Extras or were they all just extras. I know some of the vehicles used were props like the BPD cruiser in the scene where they find the daughter with the F-7 on it. Cause that car is in arlington with a few more cars from other movies around New England. Just curious.

I'm really not too sure about that. I know in "Good Will Hunting" they did use a few real BPD cops.

In the opening scene on the bridge you get a glimpse of an MSP K9 officer who is on the job. I think almost all the rest are just extras.

There was some real police officers used in the movie.

Client Eastwood was on JLeno about the making of the movie and stated that the Boston Police were amoung the most politically incorrect police he has ever met. Eastwood went on to say they were the best guys to work with but if you were the guy who parked his car in a place were you were not suppose to they would say "Hey Buddy Move The F#$KIN Car Before I F#$KIN Tow It" JLENO laughed and agreed and said if LA Police were to say to people what the Boston Police say LA would go broke with all the law suits.

The MSP uniform is trademarked. The troopers you see in the movies are troopers in "real life" (if they are wearing the correct uniform). So, too with "Spencer for Hire": Troopers Spellacy and Richardson appeared in that program. Obviously, Kevin Bacon was CPAC (or FudgePac, as it is known in the troops), as he wasn't required to wear a uniform. I thought I recognized a couple of former "B Troopers" on the bridge...

My dad had a green cruiser (unmarked) that was hit by shrap metal when they filmed that movie in boston about the irishman going around blowing stuff up. Was pretty cool.

bbelichick, didn't it surface briefly as "BIS"...or is that the overall designation for the 'secret-squirrel' units as a whole?

In any event, I don't have much contact with those folks, except to map their outdoor crime scenes...we're kinda 'out-of-the-loop'...heck I don't know half the freqs the backeast troops are operating on (used to be Troop A (K) was channel 5, D (W) was channel 4, C (C) was channel 3, etc.

Now we have that new-fangled 800 MC system...which still doesn't work in Troop B (but then, neither does the low band...or pagers...or cell phones

...).

I believe it is "DIS" now, the Division of Investigative Services, Just like DFS is the Division of Field Services. SPDU would fall under DIS.
