Did anyone else hear that Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science Public Safety Department, is going in-house? Congratulations to those guys. The chief is a great guy and he deserves it. I worked with him on other another department and he really knows his stuff.

The word has been floating around here about them as well. For those of you that don't know the "going in-house" means that the contract security from securitas is only going to be at the front desks of the buildings. The patrol officers, supervisors, and command staff are going to be sworn and in due time probably fight the good fight to become armed.

They are a very squared away unit since the Chief took over there a couple of years back. He brought in a good solid command staff with some good guys. Best of luck to all of you.

Stay Safe.

Never heard of them, where are they outta?

Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS).

Their primary campus is in Boston near Mass College of art.

They have a campus in Worcester and they have security there also, are they part of the in house move? That would be cool.

Also I think they have a campus in Manchester, NH.

MCPHS has nothing to with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts besides having the name Massachusetts and being in this state.

I met the Chief once and I'm not saying this because he's a member on this site OR because, God Bless him, he gave me a patch, but he truly came accross to me like a squared away guy who really wanted to do good things with his department. The best kind of Chief, someone with brains, determination and a desire to make his department better without screwing anyone over. We all know chiefs who might fit one or two catagories but not all three.

With the size and layout of the campus odds are it's not the busiest place on Earth, but having top notch people on board can be reassuring to everyone on, or NEAR campus should the perverbial fecal matter strike the oscillating air circulator.

I wish Mass Pharmacy all the luck in the world. I think they have a very good chance of being a nice place to work because they've got the right man at the helm.

HAHA very good point on the patch. He actually re-designed that patch when he took over. I worked under him when he was a Deputy Chief for another agency and I learned a lot. Just make sure those shoes are shined or he will blow a lid!

O.K.,

So are they going for Boston Special status or SSPO?
Will they be armed?

If the chief is half as good as everyone seems to think he is, they won't even entertain Boston SPO status and the accompanying Rule 400 headaches.

As far as I know it will be Sherriff's and/or SSPO which has prooved to be a good combo for many institutions...

I was at an active shooter training with Victor. He impressed me as a squared-away guy.

He's kinda a Glock-goober though...

Yea, the chief is very squared away. I worked under him when he was a deputy chief and learned alot about myself as well as the job. He really proves that contract security is not filled with all morons. I wish him and Donnie and the rest of the crew the best of luck over their.

Hello all, 1st let me say that I appreciate everyone’s nice words. It’s nice when you get a compliment and you not sure exactly who it was.

Maybe I can answer some un-answered questions.

1st I am going the traditional route of SSPO and Sheriffs. Unfortunately at this time the only ones that will be SSPO’s are the people that are waiver able. (Budget reason) I am just plugging away trying to make this the best place I can for someone to work.

I would like to see more candidates but its not an established department so I understand. We do have budgetary restraints at least for the 1st year of the in-house deal but hopefully we will overcome that.

But again thank you all for your support and stay safe.

Have you considered hiring some experienced officers on a part-time basis? It might be a way to help get your department established without eating away at the budget. I don't know you personally, but those that do speak highly of you. I'm sure you could get a few experienced officers to help you out. Heck, if you want, I'll send you my resume!
