The county prosecutor in Burlington VT. says there will be no criminal charges if war protesters arrested last week in that city agree to pay $6,000 for police and fire services used to cut them out of the offices of the General Dynamics company in that city last week.
Nine of the anti-war group had been arrested and removed after chains had to be cut by authorities.

The protesters targeted the company for making gatling guns and other weapons and for profiting from the war in Iraq.
Burlington Police were called in to arrest nine demonstrators who chained themselves together and refused to leave the office at closing time.
Tuesday, they all pleaded innocent to unlawful trespass. The county prosecutor is offering to let them off with no record if they agree to repay police and fire costs of $6,000.

In the meantime it appears there has been no consideration given to the costs or disruptions the protesters imposed on the company.
