Minimum Requirements: If you are interested in becoming a Correctional Officer, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Must be 18 years old
Must possess a valid photo identification
Must possess a Social Security card or alien registration card
Must possess a high school diploma or GED
Must be fluent in English
Must authorize the Rhode Island Department of Corrections to use Social Security number and date of birth for the purpose of conducting a criminal record check and background information check

7/23/08 PT Test
9/3-10/15/08 Directors Interviews
9/5-10/20/08 Psychological Exams
9/27-10/22/08 Medical Exams
Training Academy Dates: November 10th, 2008 - January 9th, 2009
Class 77 Graduation: January 9th, 2009
Other Information: The application process usually takes about four to five months to complete and occurs prior to acceptance into a Correctional Officer Training Academy. The application process includes:
Completing an application for employment
A written examination
Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) checks
Physical Fitness Test
Background Investigation
An interview with the Director’s Interview Board
Psychological assessment
A Medical/drug screening

Saturday, May 31st, 2008, 10 a.m. - noon
