Man charged with 3rd drunken-driving offense


LEOMINSTER -- Police on Sunday arrested a Gardner resident with two prior drunken-driving offenses, after allegedly spotting him swerving in and out of lanes on Route 2.
Sean Michael Connolly, 38, of 21 Clark Court, is charged with drunken driving, marked lane violations and destruction of property in connection with the incident.
Police pulled over Connolly's vehicle near the Merriam Avenue exit on Route 2 at about 7 p.m, according to Sgt. Mark Amico. Officers placed Connolly under arrest after he allegedly failed a sobriety test.
Police also charged Connolly with destruction of property valued at more than $250, after he allegedly damaged the ceiling fan in his jail cell.
Connolly is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges in Leominster District Court this morning.

Man charged with assault to murder

FITCHBURG -- A Green Street man is charged with assault to murder for his alleged role in a weekend fight with a woman, according to police.
Police responded to the Green Street apartment Sunday evening after a tipster reported domestic abuse being committed against a 22-year-old woman by Joshua M. Emslie, 23, of 114 Green St., according to Fitchburg Police Sgt. Glenn Fossa.
Police found a tense situation between Emslie and the woman, according to Fossa. The woman told police Emslie threatened her with a large kitchen knife during an argument. "He threatened to cut her with the knife," Fossa said.

Emslie is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and assault to murder, according to Fossa. He is due in Fitchburg District Court today for an arraignment.

Police: Two arrested for drunken wrestling

LEOMINSTER -- A fight outside 210 Sixth St. early Sunday morning led to the arrest of two men on charges of disturbing the peace.
Police responded to the area after receiving several noise complaints just after 3 a.m.
Toua Xiong, 23, of 123 Spruce St., Leominster, and John Her, 20, of 350 Spring St., Brockton, are accused of yelling and screaming during an early morning wrestling match outside the address.
Both men were drunk when officers arrived, according to Sgt. Mark Amico.
Xiong and Her are scheduled to be arraigned in Leominster District Court on Tuesday morning.
