NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - A member of the Rhode Island National Guard has been charged with stealing two computer monitors from Guard offices.
The two 19-inch monitors are each valued at over $300. The monitors were new and had not been installed when police say they were swiped last week from the Guard's joint operations command center in Cranston.
Michael Denis, of North Kingstown, was charged Saturday with one count of larceny over $500. He was released on personal recognizance.
Lt. Col. Denis Riel, a Guard spokesman, says Denis remains a member of the Guard but has been taken off his full-time duties until the case is resolved.
He says Denis is a sergeant and full-time member of the Guard. He was working evenings at the joint operations command.
