BOSTON (WBZ) ― Will Curt Schilling pitch for the Red Sox again? His personal doctor says probably not - and he could finish his career in New York.

Dr. Craig Morgan told ESPN Radio in Philadelphia Monday that, in his opinion, Schilling will not be back to pitch in Boston this season.

"Not only that, it's my opinion he's angry enough that it's entirely conceivable even though he's 40 years old, it's entirely conceivable that he will have the operation, rehab, and pitch for the Yankees next year," Morgan said.

There has been no comment from Schilling, the Red Sox, or the Yankees.

Schilling is currently on the 60-day disabled list.

The 41-year-old is rehabilitating his right shoulder and is expected to be sidelined at least until the All-Star break.

He has said he would have preferred surgery on the shoulder, as Morgan had recommended, but the team insisted that he first try rehab.

Schilling denied he was hurt when he signed a one-year, $8 million contract with the Red Sox in November 2007.

SCHILLING: I won’t be pitching for Yankees

BOSTON —
Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, appearing on WEEI's “Dennis & Callahan” show this morning, said that “wearing (Yankees) pin stripes is not an option.”
Schilling’s personal doctor, Craig Morgan, had told ESPN Radio on Monday that Schilling was so angry about the team's insistence that he try to rehab his shoulder, instead of having surgery – the option Morgan recommended and Schilling preferred – that he might pitch for New York next year.
Schilling said on the morning show that he is surprised at how well his rehab is going and that he has achieved “incredible gains” in strength. He said he doesn't “have any pain at all” at this point in his rehab, and that he thinks there is a “very good chance” that he’ll pitch this year and “be better than I was.”
Schilling also said he went back to Red Sox brass and renegotiated his contract for this year, eliminating the $2 million in weight clauses. Schilling said while he felt he was getting closer to being able to return, he felt guilty about collecting the clauses while not being on the mound. He said he agreed to some performance clauses that he could collect if he pitches.
