BRAINTREE —
Police found more than they bargained for when they checked out a report of a break-in at an Elm Street apartment. Officers say they found cocaine and marijuana in the apartment as resident Steven G. Tabbi, 52, led them through the rooms to check out what was stolen.
Tabbi called police to report that his apartment had been broken into between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Det. Mark Sherrick noticed a plastic bag sticking out of a pile of clothing and when he checked it, found four smaller bags with cocaine in them. Tabbi denied the drugs were his and showed officers a black box with marijuana in it in the kitchen, police said.
He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and violating the drug free zone law, a day care center is within 1,000 feet of the apartment.
