MILFORD (WBZ) ― State police are investigating a deadly crash on Route 495 South early Sunday morning.

Police say the operator of a Ford Escort was driving the wrong way on the highway when he slammed into a truck driven by Jose Yanes, 43, of East Walpole.

The driver of the Escort, whose name is not being released, was killed.

Yanes was uninjured, according to police.

Police say the crash is still under investigation.

The accident caused a serious backup on 495 near exit 20 earlier today and the investigation might cause delays for a few more hours.

YESSSSARrrrrrrrr. Sat in that nasty traffic on my way home this morning......... I can't believe that. From the looks of it, I assumed the truck driver must have been hurt too. Truck was lying on its side on top of the guardrail in the fast lane.

Same thing happened out in Orange on Route 2 Saturday morning. Caddy Deville vs Tanker truck. Driver of the Caddy admitted to attempting suicide, however he was unsucessful. The tanker still won though.

I was starting to think I was losing whatever was left of my sanity, I listened to that call on C ptl 1 while I was working and then expected to here something about it on the news but the fatal was more "news worthy" I guess.

HB you're not losing your sanity yet. The only way you would have heard about it on the news was if it was a fatal. The Athol barracks is the red headed step child of C Troop.

Great barracks but too many fatals on their stretch of Route 2.
