A teenager who sprayed nearly a dozen bullets into a Dorchester intersection and struck a mother in the forehead while she walked with her young children was convicted of assault and battery with a firearm yesterday, prosecutors said.
Raji Judge, 17, was also convicted of possession of a high-capacity feeding device and possession of a firearm in the April 2006 shooting, which he carried out when he was just 15, said Jake Wark, a spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley’s office.
Wark said a 29-year-old mother of two was walking on Geneva Avenue about 7 p.m. that day with her children when Judge and another youth approached the intersection of Geneva and Waldeck and began indiscriminately firing a Glock 9 mm pistol equipped with a 15-round clip. One of the bullets struck the woman in her forehead. She was hospitalized and miraculously survived, and Wark said she suffered no long-term injuries as a result of the shooting.
After the shooting, Judge fled on a bicycle but was soon tracked down by police officers who recovered the pistol and matched it to the crime through ballistics, Wark said. Judge will be sentenced June 19.
